These terms govern your use of Scout & Tailor ("we", "us"), a career services provider located in Lafayette, California, United States. By placing an order you agree to them.
1. What we provide
Scout & Tailor provides research and document preparation services for job seekers. Depending on the package purchased, this includes: research into current job openings matched to your background; written scoring and rationale for each match; ATS-oriented resumes and cover letters tailored to specific postings; and interview preparation materials. All deliverables are digital documents delivered by email.
2. No guarantee of outcomes
We do not guarantee that you will receive interviews, offers, or employment, and we make no representation about the results you will obtain. Hiring decisions belong entirely to employers. Any statistics on this site describe general research findings about hiring, not promises about your individual results.
3. Accuracy and the truth requirement
Every document we produce is built exclusively from information you provide. We do not invent employers, job titles, dates, degrees, certifications, licenses, clearances, or metrics, and we will not do so on request. You are responsible for the accuracy of everything you tell us and for reviewing your documents before submitting them to any employer. Misrepresenting your background to an employer is your risk alone.
4. AI disclosure
We use professional-grade artificial intelligence tools for research and drafting, directed and reviewed by a human before delivery. We disclose this openly. Some employers ask applicants to disclose AI assistance in their process — where an employer asks, you should answer honestly, and we encourage you to write any application essay that an employer specifically asks you to write yourself.
5. Your responsibilities
- Provide complete, truthful information and your current resume.
- Review all documents before sending them to employers.
- Submit your own applications — we hand you materials ready to send; where they go is your decision.
- Apply promptly. Job postings close quickly and we verify links only as of your delivery date.
6. Ownership
On payment, you own the resumes, cover letters, and prep materials we deliver to you, and may use and edit them however you like, forever. We retain ownership of our underlying methods, templates, scoring framework, and research process. We may describe work in anonymized form (initials, industry, no identifying details) as a sample or testimonial only if you give us permission.
7. Payment, delivery, refunds
Prices are shown on our pricing section and charged in U.S. dollars. Payments are processed by Stripe; we do not store your card details. Delivery times, cancellation rights, and refund terms are set out in full in our Refund, Cancellation & Delivery Policy, which forms part of these terms.
8. Acceptable use
You may not use our services to create documents for a third party without their knowledge, to misrepresent someone's identity or credentials, or for any unlawful purpose. We may decline or cancel any order at our discretion and refund it.
9. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim relating to an order is limited to the amount you paid for that order. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, including lost job opportunities, lost wages, or missed application deadlines. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.
10. Privacy
Our handling of your personal information is described in our Privacy Policy.
11. Changes
We may update these terms; the "last updated" date above will change. The terms in effect when you place an order govern that order.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to conflict of law rules.
